Android-Compatible Edwin the Duck App Now Available on Google Play

Updated app provides exceptional experience for users running Android 4.4.2 and higher

CARMEL, Ind. – (Sept. 15 2016) – pi lab, an education technology company focused on intelligent product and application creation, today announces the release of a fully-functional Android app, compatible with Android versions 4.4.2 and higher. The Android-compatible version of the already-successful iOS app is available for download on the Google Play store, and requires BLUETOOTH® 4.0.

Edwin’s Android app, which works with KitKat, Lollipop and Marshmallow, contains identical content to the flagship app for iOS and wirelessly connects to the Edwin controller via BLUETOOTH® 4.0. The app leverages pi lab’s SQUACK™ technology to enable motion-based interaction between rubber duck Edwin and the Android app. Now, both iOS and Android users can enjoy the traditional functionality and adorable companionship of Edwin the Duck.

“Finalizing Edwin’s Android app has been at the top of our priority list for some time now,” said Don Inmon, President and co-founder of pi lab. “It wasn’t enough to have a good [Android] user experience, it had to be exceptional – that’s what our users deserve. We’re excited to bring Edwin the Duck into the homes and hearts of millions of Android users worldwide.”

The app allows Android users to play educational games, engage in interactive stories and sing original songs. New and improved content is immediately available inside the app, including an enhanced version of the “Edwin Feeling Small” story and an all-new story, “Edwin, My New Best Friend,” where users travel through underwater and outer space adventures with Edwin in hand.

For optimal app experience, Android users must update Edwin’s Firmware and optimize Edwin with the proper settings. To update Edwin’s firmware, users simply pair Edwin with their desired device through Bluetooth, open the Edwin app and follow the on-screen directions, which will immediately pop up. After the update, users should navigate to the BLUETOOTH® settings on their device and make sure the “media audio” box is unchecked. Upon restart, Edwin will be ready for use.

Edwin is a Consumer Product Safety Commission certified technology product. Equipped with a built-in LED light, rechargeable lithium ion battery, water temperate sensor, and wireless waterproof (IPX7) BLUETOOTH® speaker, Edwin is truly no ordinary duck. Find Edwin at Best Buy, Apple, or in Target’s new Connected Living & Connected Nursery sections.
